On Topic: Move over grief, it’s Monday

I feel compelled today to write about loss, though I will not.

Today is Monday, January 25th.

Two years ago today, I lost a friend to herself.

One year ago today, I wrote of how much that experienced helped me see and learn. I wrote of understanding and the acceptance of grief. You can read that here.

But, after the year we all had, I chose today not to ask you to think of grief, or how you deal with it. Instead, on this Monday, I ask you to recognize just how much you’ve accomplished since you woke up this morning.

You chose today.

Now, Choose more.

Choose tomorrow.

Choose to be more.

Choose to be everything that you find your immediate environment lacks.

I’ll leave you with a quote from Amanda Gorman’s The Hill We Climb:

…there is always light,
if only we’re brave enough to see it.
If only we’re brave enough to be it.

You can see her full performance of this poem at last week’s Presidential Inauguration here.

Thank you for reading.

Until next time.
